Looking for a good friend in your life !!!

Last time i talked about why we need to respect our dear mother.

Now i am going to tell you about making friends.

A friend walk in when the rest of the world walks out. Sometimes in life,
You find a special friend; Someone who changes your life just by being part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop; Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.

This is Forever Friendship.

when you're down, and the world seems dark and empty,
Your forever friend lifts you up in spirits and makes that dark and empty world
suddenly seem bright and full.
Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times, and the confused times.
If you turn and walk away,
Your forever friend follows,
If you lose you way,
Your forever friend guides you and cheers you on.
Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that everything is going to be okay.
And if you find such a friend,
You feel happy and complete,
Because you need not worry,
Your have a forever friend for life.

I think it is important for us to make a good and real friend in our lives.

Long Neck Ladies
These kind of ladies can be found in Inle in Myanmar...They believe that stretching their necks make them become more beautiful....They have to live with their rings every day...
As it's tradition for them, they believe that they shouldn't take them out ...They usually started keep adding rings from the ages of 10 to 12 until their death...
However, there are some shows on national geographic that they can take take the rings off ...but it's a really big chance that it might break their necks...
Actually , the necks don't grow , it's their shoulders that shrink...However , some say the necks grow and some say they don't ...Nevertheless, it's not safe for them to take off....
Anyway , it's fascinating to see the ladies who wearing the gold rings on their necks...

Childhood Memories!

When I was a kid we would go to our cottage in Sydney, Australia, every December holidays. About a mile away from the cottage is the woods, and deep in the woods, there is an empty cave. My brother and I used to believe fairies and goblins and whatever fairytale creatures exists and live in that cave (thanks to my parent's lies TSK) and we used to spend HOURS there searching for them, which of course, could not find any in the end. These are just one of the famous lies parents make you believe. Others are like Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy(Oh I still believe in this), and of course, the BOOGIE MAN. (AAHHHHH!!) Although they are lies, you have to admit that because of all these lies, it makes our childhood special and exciting in a way, living in a world of imaginary creatures.

I think one of the greatest things about being "human" is that we have memories that are reasonably persistent throughout most of our life-spans. Our memories provide continuity between our past experiences and the current moment. You can never get too far away from your memories because everything you now experience is focused by lenses either scratched or polished by previous experiences. How you "see" things is unique because the sum total of your experiences is unique. It is a fundamental characteristic of being human. (:

I had always wanted to grow up and be an adult, thinking life would be much more easier and fun than being a child, but I guess I was wrong. Even now, when I'm only a teenager, everything is changing. Life is changing, I am changing, friends are changing...and I thought, hhmm..maybe a grown ups life isn't as perfect as I thought it would be. And somehow, I miss my childhood days. I missed everything and how simple it was before. That's all I want to say. (:

A happy childhood can't be cured. Mine will hang around my neck like a rainbow. ((:

The student exchange programme- Kagami students who came to our school

Firstly, i want to wish Yutian HAPPY BIRTHDAY...!
At first, i didn't know what should i write in our class blog.
But as i scan through here, i saw what azeerah has written down , have decided what i want to write.
I have decided to write about the Japan students who came to our school during the two days visit.

Although the Japan students did not come to our class and that i didn't have a chance to talk to them but from what I heard from Stefan , they are very friendly.
As I happened to see two of the Japan students togehter with Stefan on bus when i was going to school on Friday. I asked him about them and he said that they are very friendly.

Students exchange programme in our school have been going on since about 10 years back. Last year , my class got to communicate with the Germany students during the IT project. We had fun chatting with them even though sometimes they do not understand what we are talking about. I didn't have the chance to go to Germany last year in November during the Germany exchange programme.

I guess i had to stop my post here. And i hope that all the exchange programme and our school's friendship with Japan, Germany , Hong Kong and even Malaysia will last even when i left this school next year.=p

Shwedagon pagoda

The origins of Shwedagon are very old, its age unknown. Long before the pagoda was built, its location on Singuttara hill was already an ancient site because of the buried relics of the three previous Buddhas. According to one legend, nearly 5000 years had passed since the last Buddha walked the Earth. In order that such new relics might be obtained, King Okkalapa of Suvannabhumi spent much time atop the hill, meditating and praying. A series of miracles ensued and eight hairs of the historical Buddha were, somewhat magically, brought to the hill. Much of the continued construction of Shwedagon was actually reconstruction following disastrous earthquakes. During the 17th century the pagodawas hit by earthquake damage on at least eight occasions. A bad quake in 1786 brought the entire top half of the pagoda to the ground and its current shape and height date from the reconstruction of that time.

Happy Birthday To YOU !

Today is Yutian’s birthday.

All of us wanted to give him a huge surprise on the day he was born seventeen years ago.

The day before yesterday, Shuda,Suyu and Linna had prepared a fancy birthday gift for Yutian, our god of longevity.

I also asked Shuda about their super surprising birthday gift which was prepared for him. It

seemed like this is their top-secret , of course I had got nothing with the enigma.

I also do not want to be left behind them.

Yesterday, Jianan(one of our friends in 3v7), Zhaokun, Zhenghao and I went to a franchised comic store in Jurong point . (By the way,Yutian's favourite is comic). Under Suyu and Linna ‘s guidance, our four found the birthday gift for our god of longevity. Of course, they are also our top-secrets.

All of us is going to meet together at 15:30 this afternoon to celebrate Yutian's Birthday and give him our sincere benison on his birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

To post your benedictions to Yutian by comments.

Do You Know?

Introduction I was on my way home and was thinking what to post on the blog . Then , I was asking myself what can I say or do with English . At first , I though of posting the Japanese language as maybe we can learn some basic greetings and so on . Not only that , we have visitors from Japan and maybe could use it . Many ideas came to my mind but it was not suitable . Suddenly this idea came across my mind. I was thinking when did English was created , how and who. So here I am telling you guys what I found out.

Do you know how was English started? Well actually after doing some research in the internet English language was not created at any one time, but has evolved over thousands of years. The English of 1500 years ago cannot be recognised including language experts. From at least the time when the Romans invaded Britain in the first century, until late middle ages many European languages which had influenced the development of English .

After the Latin of the Romans, there was the Germanic languages of the Angles, Saxons and Jutes. Then the Scandinavian languages of the Vikings. And then the French of the Normans. Actually , I do even heard these languges so if you want to know more check it out! England had territory in what is now modern France for much of the later Mediaeval period and many of the Kings, Queens and aristocracy following the Norman conquest (AD 1066) could only speak French. It is also important to remember that these other languages were considerably different to those we know today and have also evolved.

I guess it is more relevant to consider how English has become more standardised. Today, as is probably the case through out history, people in England (and throughout the world) don't speak English in the same way. They both pronounce words differently and use differing sets of vocabulary. In some cases they even have different meanings for the same words. Over time these differences has been affected by such things as communication (travellers, letters, telephone, radio and internet). Other major influences such as books and printing presses have had a major influence on people who can read, as has the theatre and travelling poets etc, moving pictures, radio and television.

From the eighteenth century people who went to school have been taught from grammar which had some influence on how we perceive English should be spoken.
English, as with all evolving languages is always changing. As new discoveries and inventions are made so too must words be found to represent these. All the historical and social events contributed to what must be one of the most interesting languages known.

Class Blog Back In Action!

My Dear Students,

All is well. We will discuss the problem in class. Basically, you shouldn't write or paste any html or javascript codes onto your post.

I'm so happy!

Some Problems with the Class Blog

First, I'd like to thank all of you who have posted. You're really helping this blog to move along. Hope to see some posts by the others soon.
I don't know if you all have noticed, but the blog has some missing items. The 'useful links', 'fun vids' , the news, the counter etc are all missing. Don't quite know what the problem is, but I've contacted Blogger to ask what's going on. Hopefully, it will resolve itself after awhile. In the meantime, you can still continue to post.
Keep up the good work! Long live Animal Farm!.....er I mean 3V6!

FIRE.FLAME. ..
What does this fire represent of to you? Every individual has different perspective. For me, this fire represent anger.
*Fire burns. It burns your stuff. So does anger. It burns your heart. I mean this is what i thought. That is why most probably people will advise you to take a cup of drink to soothe you down. However, it is not guaranteed to be true. For me, i will bang my head on the wall.(It's not pain..SERIOUS!)

*I have gotten knowledge about ''controlling your anger'' from the EQ workshop. The speaker said that once we are swayed by our anger, we could do something which we will regret forever.

''An action of a split second could change the world.''
azmira azlan

Now, that's my phrase that i made it. =)
We, humans, should not be swayed by our emotions too much. So therefore, if you guys are angry, there are so many good things that we can do to make ourself feel cold.

*Example like, write the annoyed stuff that pissed you off in your diary. Write and write till you are satisfied. Come on, it the only composition which you no need to check on grammar and spelling . Now that a nice one.

Scream your lungs out to the world!! As if you're the only person there! You will feel great after screaming but do drink water before your friend tease you of your voice.

Smile..=) Try slowly and smile..for 30 seconds.

I'm sure you guys have more examples of controlling your anger. I'm just here to wake you guys up especially those who are hot-tempered. hmm.
*Think about this: Life is short. Why don't we make every second a happy time for us.

Life is already miserable. Why make it worse?

**Okay. Smile always 3v6!

Peace!

Be cool!

-SILENT TEARS-

Hey guys...
The last post from me..
I want comments..
Because, that piece is going to turn into a song..
And it'll be my own and first song..

Today's Level 1 Leadership Workshop which I attended with some other pals was indeed awesome! The presenter, Mr Freddy, was such a humourous person! We were having so much fun when we were rudely interrupted by this particular person. But of course we continued with the workshop. Then, there was this challenge in which the girls were separated from the guys and we had to form a circle in our respective groups. The challenge was to get as close as possible, bend both of your legs and sit on one of your friend's legs(the one behind). It may sound complicated but it sure is fun! Then again, its all in the mind.......

If you have been keeping up with the news, you might have heard about the 23 South Koreans held hostage by the Talibans in Afghanistan. Though its not the very first time I've heard of such news, it is indeed shocking to hear that it happened yet again. Click here to know more.

It is absolutely terrifying to find out that aedes mosquitos are breeding or can be found near your neighbourhood, Kah Ching Rd or Koh Ching Rd. (if im not wrong..!) And it is worse if you found out that one of your friends who's schooling at this particular school near the area with the dengue outbreak, is itching all over! Hope you'll get better, mate!

Smack That!

I'm currently hooked on to this book called:

Its a truly good book, frankly speaking.
Need proof?
I've read it 3 times.
Heehee.
Click here for the book review.

Last but not least, I would like to congratulate Nadhirah and Shahidah in coming up tops for the Salad Making Competition!
And I'm positively sure that our dear Mr. Thomas would very much like to try the "award-winning dish"! Do let us try someday!
Way to go, you guys!
Written Love
When it hurts so bad,why does it feel so good?

I wish this all made sense,
I wish I understood.
Not having you here with me is tearing me up inside,
but I can't stop thinking about you no matter how hard I tried.
Loving you feels so right,

but at the same time,
knowing I can't have you keeps me awake at night.
I just want this to be simple,
wanting you here with me,
to look into your eyes,be held in your arms...
then I'd truly be happy.
I cannot say 'I love you’
Or that I truly care,
because my words would mean as much to you
As a layer of thin air.
How can I let go
Of my love that was so true?
How can I forget these feelings
That I still hold for you?
What good is love, that does not touch,
What good is love, that gives you pain.
What good is love, that makes you run,
And makes you lost out in the rain.
A thunderous silence
breaks through my thoughts.
What was once many great ideas
is now a triumph, lost.
At one point, I loved you more than anything
You were my sunshine after the rain,
But with you went my only light,
And I felt nothing but pain.
You haunt me in my dreams at night,
And you plague my every thought,
There it goes all alone,
continuing to fall
With it,
it takes the emotion of all
Wait, can you hear it?
A sob has broke free
Has shook my lungs cold, but yet continues to be
But time and distance have erased
So now, I journey on alone,Forever wandering, in my thoughts.

The Result

Shahidah and I came in third for the salad making competition last Sunday.Out of the 33 or 36 teams participated in the upper sec category,we came in third!=]

I think the problem with our salads were the presentation. Our presentation is a really simple one while other teams, their presentation were really great. One of the judge recommended our salad to the Chef judge and he tasted our salad twice.=] Which is of course a good sign.=]The Chef then recommended our salad to the MP.Which is of course another good sign.I was in really high hopes.=]

Then,came the scary part.The announcing of the winners.When they announced our team's no.,we were quite shocked.=]We actually won.Almost.Third place is good enough.We got a trophy,gift set,and $80 Popular Bookstore voucher.Which is not bad.=]

I'll post some pictures soon.=]

Till then,

Silent Tears

A thunderous silence,

That gives me pain,

Watch my tears,

Falling on life’s nameless place

But what of hearts that beat as one,
And what of passion and embrace,
Is it too much to ask of you,
just make these tears of mine erased

You’ve seen the pain that lies in my eyes,

But alas my eyes are dried,

You’ve seen the anger that burns from my gaze,

The madness that sets my eyes ablaze

You’ve seen the fear that closes my eyes

The smile I wear is but a disguise

The memories…

To times of love and laughter-free

The times we had together,

A sense of you, a sense of me

But what of hearts that beat as one,
And what of passion and embrace,
Is it too much to ask of you,
just make these tears of mine erased

How warmly a candle lights up,

In the black most recesses of nights,

The silent tears that I cried,

But with you went my only light……

HAPPY RACIAL HARMONY DAY!!! ((:

We celebrated Racial Harmony Day during the morning assembly yesterday! Though it was short, we learnt a lot of educational stuff such as why we need to have Racial Harmony. 4 drama club members performed a little skit for us, reminding us of the importance of having Racial Harmony. Our very own Wei Chen was one of the members involved!

As it was Racial Harmony Day, we were allowed and encouraged to wear our ethnic costumes. Many students and teachers came an array of different, beautiful traditional costumes, brightening our school up with the many colours! Being in a school with many foreigners, we didn't only have the usual Chinese, Malay and Indian traditional costumes. We even had a student coming in a Thai costume and some Myanmar students in their own unique costume!

YuHang, Suhedah, Azmira and Yuzana were 4 brave souls in our class who wore their gorgeous traditional costumes! Kudos to them!((:

these are some of the photos taken yesterday!

King Lear

Last night, Mr Glover and I went to see King Lear at the Esplanade. It was put up by the Royal Shakespeare Company. It was an excellent performance, and I think that everyone one who watched it was most impressed. Ian McKellen, who stared as Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings and Magneto in the X Men, was really in top form. I consider myself lucky to be able to have had the chance to see these professionals at work. I have attached a clip of the play below though this clip isn't from the Singapore performance. You may not yet understand the language being used, but you will get a sense of what we saw and a glimpse of McKellen's fine acting skills. Thanks to Mr Glover for inviting me to see it.

WhAt is PinK?

What is Pink? A rose is pink
By the fountain's brink.
What is Red? A poppy's red
In its barley bed.
What is Blue? The sky is blue
Where the clouds float through.
What is White? A swan is white
Sailing in the light.
What is yellow? Pears are yellow,
Rich and ripe and mellow.
What is Green? The grass is green,
With small flowers between.
What is Violet? Clouds are violet
In the summer twilight.
What is orange? Why, an orange,
Just an ORANGE!

Those Childhood Days

When you came into the world, she held you in her arms.
You thanked her by weeping your eyes out.
When you were 1 year old, she fed you and bathed you.
You thanked her by crying all night long.
When you were 2 years old, she taught you to walk.
You thanked her by running away when she called.
When you were 3 years old, she made all your meals with love.
You thanked her by tossing your plate on the floor.

When you were 4 years old, she gave you some crayons.
You thanked her by coloring the dining room table.
When you were 5 years old, she dressed you for the holidays.
You thanked her by plopping into the nearest pile of mud.
When you were 6 years old, she walked you to school.
You thanked her by screaming, "I'm not going!"
When you were 7 years old, she bought you a baseball.
You thanked her by throwing it through the next-door-neighbor's window.
When you were 8 years old, she handed you an ice cream.
You thanked her by dripping it all over your lap.
When you were 9 years old, she paid for piano lessons.
You thanked her by never even bothering to practice.
When you were 10 years old, she drove you all day, from soccer to gymnastics to one birthday party after another.
You thanked her by jumping out of the car and never looking back.
When you were 11 years old, she took you and your friends to the movies.
You thanked her by asking to sit in a different row.
When you were 12 years old, she warned you not to watch certain TV shows.
You thanked her by waiting until she left the house.
  Those Teenage Years
When you were 13, she suggested a haircut that was becoming.
You thanked her by telling her she had no taste.
When you were 14, she paid for a month away at summer camp.
You thanked her by forgetting to write a single letter.
When you were 15, she came home from work, looking for a hug.
You thanked her by having your bedroom door locked.
When you were 16, she taught you how to drive her car.
You thanked her by taking it every chance you could.
When you were 17, she was expecting an important call.
You thanked her by being on the phone all night.
When you were 18, she cried at your high school graduation.
You thanked her by staying out partying until dawn.
  Growing Old and Gray
When you were 19, she paid your college tuition, drove you to campus, carried your bags.
You thanked her by saying good-bye outside the dorm so you wouldn't be embarrassed in front of your friends.

When you were 20, she asked whether you were seeing anyone.
You thanked her by saying, "It's none of your business."
When you were 21, she suggested certain careers for your future.
You thanked her by saying, "I don't want to be like you."
When you were 22, she hugged you at your college graduation.
You thanked her by asking whether she could pay for a trip to Europe.
When you were 23, she gave you furniture for your first apartment.
You thanked her by telling your friends it was ugly.
When you were 24, she met your fiance10 and asked about your plans for the future.
You thanked her by glaring and growling, "Muuhh-ther, please!"
When you were 25, she helped to pay for your wedding, and she cried and told you how deeply she loved you.
You thanked her by moving halfway across the country.

When you were 30, she called with some advice on the baby.
You thanked her by telling her, "Things are different now."
When you were 40, she called to remind you of a relative's birthday.
You thanked her by saying you were "really busy right now."
When you were 50, she fell ill and needed you to take care of her.
You thanked her by reading about the burden parents become to their children.
And then one day she quietly died.(hope not)haha...
And everything you never did came crashing down like thunder.
"Rock me baby, rock me all night long."
"The hand who rocks the cradle...may rock the world".
Let us take a moment of the time just to pay tribute and show appreciation to the person called mom though some may not say it openly to their mother. There's no substitute for her. Cherish every single moment. Though at times she may not be the best of friends, may not agree to our thoughts, she is still your mother!!!She will be there for you...to listen to your woes, your braggings, your frustations, etc. Ask yourself...have you put aside enough time for her, to listen to her "blues" of working in the kitchen, her tiredness? Be tactful, loving and still show her due respect though you may have a different view from hers. Once gone, only fond memories of the past and also regrets will be left.
Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart. Love her more than you love yourself. Life is meaningless without her ...

O level Mother Tongue Listening Comprehension

Hey!

Lailatul,Shahidah and I have just sat for the o level malay listening comprehension. It was extremely nerve-wrecking.I felt so nervous and scared.Especially when I can't answer the last question.I only have like 1 minutes left and I was like oh my...what is the answer..my legs were shaking so hard.My head was like all jammed up.So,I just chose option C.I don't know if it is correct.=]

The funny thing was that before the examination actually started,we were supposed to listen to the radio. Then, there is this section where listeners will tell the radio Dj their secrets. Then, there is this girl who said that she does not have her front teeth. She said that she actually wore dentures.Hahaha.It was so funny and everyone laughed.=]

Hit the cinemas today with two of my best buds to catch...
Some people claimed it was boring, others said it was awesome. Well honestly I think it was satisfactory. Perhaps I'll give the whole movie outing a rating of 3.5/5, including the part where I was simultaneously irked by a little girl who sat infront of me who just could not sit still. I was fuming mad. Oh well, I'd rather not talk about it.
Next movie to catch:

Man, I can't wait! Bet you can't too!

Last Friday, some of us took part in the interclass basketball tournament. Our team consisted of Zheng Hao, Zhao Kun, Yu Tian, Stefan, Nur, Suhedah, Su Yu and yours truly. Though we did not manage to get into the semis, we enjoyed playing against other classes. But then again, basketball is so not my cup of tea! It was quite awkward dribbling and bouncing the ball, though it was fundamental, so all we(the girls) had to do was to just run around, defend and simply to have fun! The winning team was awarded to 4p2, if i'm not wrong. But frankly speaking, our team was amazing on that day and well, it might be our turn to clinch the title next year!

Kudos to 3V6!

Til then!

Animal Farm

3V6 and 3V7 are currently reading the novel Animal Farm in their English classes. Here is an edited clip from the newer version of the movie Animal Farm. The clip has been edited to include narration from an audio book. In the actual movie, the animals can 'speak'. This version is less faithful to the novel than the earlier cartoon version which we will watch later in the term. So, go ahead and watch the preview clip from YouTube. Consider it an appetizer to next week's English lessons.

3v6 warriors..

I cannot forget the fun time with my classmates, 3V6 during Sports Day on 25th April. There were so many good and fast runners in our class. Stefan, Nur khan, Haikal, Khairul, Suhedah, Mei Qi, Lijun, Jasmine and Zhaokun were the representatives of our class for running events. They ran pretty hard and their efforts were rewarded. My classmates and Ishouted at the top of our voices, cheering for them. That was the time when I realised that our class spirit was strong. We encouraged each other and did not give up on each other. I felt proud of my class spirit.

Our class won the title ''Best Class Cheer''.

The cheer was composed by Shikin and Lailatul. It goes like this..

3Serve Unite, we show our might
show them how we Serve6 fight
Fight them in the sun, Fight them in the rain
Fight fight fight, till we win this game
We will, we will Rock you..AW! Rock you..AW!

The judges were impressed by our spirit..Therefore, our efforts at practising in every Character Education(CME) lesson were rewarded.

This is a picture which one of our classmates edited.

At the end of the day, we took this picture. We sang our class cheer with full of glory. Everyone of us was happy on that day.
Once again, 3v6 rocks!

Thank you!

Today(July 13, 2007)was dark Friday in my calendar.
Our class lost in our school basketball competition. Even though we lost,I want to thank all of our athletes. Well done!Perfect!
When I went to the basketball court, there were only 3 games left.
The principal force was formed by ZHAOKUN(forward),ZHENGHAO(center),YUTIAN(rear guard),NESTOR,and STEFAN.
We also had another 3 heroic girls: ASHIKIN,SUYU,and SUHEDAH.
They united as one to cooperate with each other. They all did good jobs.
For their dedication and hard work, we have to thank them again.

The Fantastic Forty Class Blog

The Fantastic Forty blog is an English project for Secondary 3V6, a.k.a the Fantastic Forty, of Pioneer Secondary School. We hope that by contributing to this blog, we will improve our writing skills, as well as keep a record of our lives in school, our friends, hobbies, excursions, and our thoughts about world events.

Cheers!
